Verbier is a top ski resort in Switzerland. It is easily accessible. It is a two-hour drive from Geneva Airport or it is a beautiful train ride along the lake and then into the mountains.

This is a link to the tourist office website:

The lifts normally open for skiing in November and close at the end of April. As a ski resort it’s famous for its off-piste and challenging runs. There is also the longest toboggan run in Western Switzerland.

During the rest of the year it is possible to hike, mountain bike and climb. There is a new sports centre with a climbing wall, tennis and squash courts. There are indoor and outdoor swimming pools and they are building a 1400m zip wire. The flowers and wildlife are beautiful.

There is an international school here. Sometimes one or two children in the family come to me and the others go to the school.

There is an international community here and the families are very welcoming. Many come for just a few years and those who want to join in feel included quickly.

One of the big benefits of living here with the family, is that you spend much more time together. Most activities are here in Verbier, so the parents don’t need to be taxi drivers. Lots of my pupils walk to their lessons, some ski or sledge here and some take the bus. It is a safe environment, so the children can be more independent.

My apartment is only five minutes walk from the centre, it is close to a bus stop and we have visitor parking.
